We helped our client to select the top 8 startups and award them a total of USD 1 million in cash grants. We then mentored these 8 startups over a period of 1 month and introduced them to key local stakeholders such as potential clients and local government representatives.
Farhan Firdaus, Partner at Meet Ventures, is a Venture Builder with a proven track record previously as a Series B startup COO and as Head of Venture Building for an ASEAN-focused agriculture investment firm.
As an experienced venture builder and startup advisor, Farhan has mentored close to 500 startup founders in the ASEAN and Oceania region. Some of Farhan's mentees have won national-level competitions in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea and others have been invested by state-level companies and multinational conglomerates.
Farhan is also active in the academic scene, having been invited as a Guest Lecturer at leading universities such as RMIT University and ESSEC Business School. He is also a Technopreneurship Scholar at Nanyang Technological University and an Advisory Board Member at the Singapore Polytechnic School of Business. In 2021, Farhan was appointed to the Singapore Ministry of Education’s Committee for Review on Applied Education.
An emerging thought leader, Farhan was recognised by the European Commission as a EUVP Young Leader and was also awarded the Free-Market Humanitarian Award by European Parliament MP, Mr Daniel Hannan. Farhan was also invited as a panelist alongside Minister Ong Ye Kung for the Channel News Asia (CNA) Panel on “Economic Disruptions in the Future Economy”.
John Lim, Partner at Meet Ventures, is an experienced professional in the startup and innovation sector. He began his career at SGInnovate and KPMG Innovate before moving on to start his own practice. He now helps corporates and growth-stage startups to work together for win-win outcomes.
Throughout his career, John has reviewed thousands of pitch decks and worked with hundreds of startups. Some of the programs he managed include TAGPASS Accelerator Program, CISCO Innovation Program (IoT Startups), IBM-Watson Innovation Program (AI Startups), SEA Anchor Market Access Program, LongHash Global Blockchain Incubator and more.
John has also been invited to judge at various regional pitch competitions and speak at multiple conferences. Some of these pitch competitions include Project Kairos 2018, Nanjing Pitch Contest 2019, Startup Elevate 2019, Suzhou Venture Contest 2020 and Slingshot 2020. He was also Keynote Speaker at the Yale-NUS China Summit 2019 and Maritime Port Authority (Singapore) Innovation Summit 2019.
During his free time, John volunteers as a mentor at Protégé Kita and Social Impact Catalyst. He is a firm believer that every person has the potential to succeed, and that people are the key to an organization’s success.
